Greek Notes

  • 2:1
    • τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ — dative of time
    • ἦν ἡ μήτηρ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ ἐκεῖ
      • [[?]] "it was the mother of Jesus there" or "the mother of Jesus was there" ? — does word-order has an effect on the 'pecking order' of copular verb ?
  • 2:3
    • 馬利亞(耶穌母親)和婚宴這家人一定很熟悉,因為:
      • 1) 酒沒了,馬利亞身為客人竟然會知道
      • 2) 馬利亞不待主人求助,反而主動伸出援手(甚至在新郎、管家之前就插手)
      • 3) 馬利亞可以直接吩咐僕人去作事
  • 2:4
    • τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί, γύναι;
      • [[?]] 怎麼解釋?
    • οὔπω ἥκει ἡ ὥρα μου.
      • [[?]] 怎麼解釋?
    • ἦσαν δὲ ἐκεῖ λίθιναι ὑδρίαι ἓξ — "6 stone jars were there" or "there were 6 stone jars there" ??
      • [[?]] word-order copular verb's 'pecking-order' 的關係。。。
  • 2:9
    • τὸ ὕδωρ οἶνον γεγενημένον — 「嚐了那變成酒的水」
  • 2:11
    • Ταύτην ἐποίησεν ἀρχὴν τῶν σημείων ὁ Ἰησοῦς —
      • "This sentence in Greek involves an object-complement construction. The force can be either "Jesus did this as," or possibly "Jesus made this to be." The latter translation accents not only Jesus' power but his sovereignty too. Cf. also Joh 4:54 where the same construction occurs." — NET tn
      • 神蹟 顯出榮耀 相信!
  • 2:17
    • ὁ ζῆλος τοῦ οἴκου σου καταφάγεταί με — [[?]] 為什麼把 Ps 69:9 (LXX 68:10) 中的 aorist κατέφαγέν
      改成 future καταφάγεταί

  • 2:20

[[Q]] "The dative is John's preferred construction when the object of faith is a thing (4:50; 5:47; 10:38). When the object of faith is a person, John may use the dative, or he may resort to pisteuō eis plus the accusative. (Believing the light, using the eis expression [12:36], is not really an exception, since the light refers to Christ.)" (Carson PNTC, 183)
